RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

April graduated from Modesto's RVT program and has been in the veterinary field for eleven years—and has been at OVG since 2023.

What is your favorite part about your job?
Hugging all the wiener dogs. Drawing blood, placing iv catheters, and monitoring anesthesia. Plus, learning new ways to help our patients further.

If you could be an animal for a day, what animal would you choose to be and why?
A sloth, because sometimes it’s good to slow down and enjoy the moment.

You can only eat one dish for every meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for a whole month;
what meal are you choosing?
Pasta! I’m pretty sure I was Italian in another life.

Favorite dog breed and why?
Dachshund! Because they have such a big heart and they are so brave!

Favorite cat breed and why?
Munchkin cats, I just like short breeds.

You're stranded on an island for a month; what 4 things are you bringing with you?
And who from OVG are you bringing with you?
A book, journal, lighter, and machete. Danielle, she has such a nice and friendly vibe.

What is your number one tip you have for pet owners?
Throw away your retractable leash! Burn it!

What's your go-to Starbucks drink?
Vanilla chai latte with oat milk.

Which OVG core value do you most embody and why?
Respectful. Having respect for our coworkers and patients is important to me because
          when
you respect someone, you value them.

Who would you consider your biggest mentor/inspiration in your career? Why?
My first mentor that I had 11 yrs ago. She taught me about compassion and educated
          me in
everything that I know. She also taught me never to stop learning! There’s always
          something
new or a different way of doing things
