Veterinary Technician Manager
Shea now works at a specialty clinic in Dublin. We are lucky enough to steal her on her free days. She attended Carrington college and has been in the veterinary field for twelve years now, two of which have been working for OVG. Her favorite part of her job is making a difference in a patient's recovery. She loves being part of the reason that they get to go home and see their family again.
What is your number one tip you have for pet owners? It can be anything from care tips, treat/food recommendations, tips before vet visits, etc.
If a cat, have the carrier lying around for a couple of days before so they get used to the idea of it. For dogs that have a high fear or anxiety of the vet, have them come in a few times just to get treats and get some love. They’ll recognize it as a place they can feel comfortable rather than a place they get poked
If you could be an animal for a day, what animal would you choose to be and why?
A cat. I would just eat, do nothing, and lay in the sun all day.
You can only eat one dish for every meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for a whole month; what meal are you choosing?
Breakfast burrito.
Favorite dog breed and why?
Labradors. They’re so sweet and loyal.
Favorite cat breed and why?
Maine Coon. I love how big and fluffy they are.
You're stranded on an island for a month; what 4 things are you bringing with you? And who from OVG are you bringing?
My family, a filter straw, sunscreen, and a bikini. Ally. She has become one of my really good friends that is just easy to get along with and easy to talk to, even about difficult things with no judgment.
What is your favorite responsibility/task/procedure to perform at work?
Emergency and critical care situations have always been my favorite. Knowing I’m the front line for a patient when they need it most.
What's your go to Starbucks drink?
Caramel macchiato or a pink drink.
What pets do you have at home? (breed & name)
Hudson and Forrest- black labs, a chihuahua named Z, meeps is my cat, and 4 chickens (fletcher, Becky, Gertrude, and Beatriz).
Which OVG core value do you most embody and why? (Passionate, genuine, collaborative, fun, respectful)
Passionate. I feel like I’ve been passionate about everything I have ever done in life. If it means something to me, I’m all in. Not only in my job, but with my family.
